How to Build Up a Big Content Rich Blog

Most people ask me how I made a blog from scratch such as BlogKori? What it takes to be a pro blogger and how I managed to write so much interesting content? Now this is a question which doesn’t have a simple answer and I can’t give you the right tip to build your big blog next week! It’s a sort of thing that takes time and effort.

How to build up a big content rich blog?

When I first started this blog, I never thought I would write so many articles for it. I had another blog that I had to focus completely on that. I had 15-20 post ideas for BlogKori and after that I would close the blog. But soon people started to read my new blog and I had to close my first blog and put the spotlight on this blog.

Blogging is Like Digging!

my money making blog! Here I mean by dig, not the social bookmarking site digg. When you start digging a hole, you had a plan what it would be? Some wants to plant a tree, some wants to make a moat and some of them will tell you are building a canal. When you tell your friends that you’re building a channel  and they quickly appears on your place to find out it’s just a 2 feet deep hole in your backyard; it just turns them away!

Most people who desperately wants to make money with it will fill up the 2 feet hole into water and put fishes (ads) and place a board next to it “it’s a money making blog!” They will even create 10’s of holes in their backyard and do the same thing.

When you decide you are going to do this, you should start digging and should do it regularly.. within few months it will become a huge in size.

It Takes Less Effort If You’re Doing It Regularly

Most people spend a whole lot of time into their blogs, writing, promoting and then tracking their visitors.. in the first few weeks of your blog it’s natural but on the upcoming months you should provide a continuous effort to it. If you decide to publish 3 posts a week, then try to stick with that.

It’s so much easy like this math: if you write one post each day, you will be producing an average of 250-300 articles a year. That means on the next year your blog will have 300 posts and they will generate search engine traffic. When a new visitor will land on your blog, they will have enough content to spend his next 2-3 months discovering and reading them. They will also share the content with their friends and more traffic will be generated. On the second year, you will be having another 300 articles and that means double the exposure.

In this time the first set of 300 articles will generate you the most search traffic because they have already developed a good search rankings.

The Journey is Different for Each Blogger

You will be surprised to hear that a lot of bloggers who started blogging after you started blogging, are making a good income and getting tons of traffic! That’s not all, there must be a lot of bloggers who started blogging last month but made a large list of visitors. This is a thing when most bloggers feels they are not doing it right or it’s not going to work.

Some people learn fast and some people gets the right information in the right time. Please don’t get upset if another new blogger is acheiving something before you did. It doesn’t matters what you did in short time, it matters what impact you put in the long term. In the end, the one who survived is the winner. In some niches 200 RSS readers are much more valuable than 10,000 RSS readers in another niche. It depends on how you see your blog and this is the way others will see it too.

Why should you write when no one is going to read it?

Blogging is not like the old times where people would like to spend hours in a blog to read every word from the post. This is the late 2009 and social media is soon taking over on all of your online habits. When was the last time you had read a post from the beginning to end? New media blog readers scan those headlines and will only click on the link they are interested; after appearing on your blog they will start to scan your site and if they are in a mood, they will tweet your post or comment on it if they are trying to build links for their site.

So why don’t you take a different approach to get the attention from your readers; harvest some traffic and monetize it? Here are some great ideas which will replace your boring blog posts,

Post a funny pic!

Yes I do know that too! 90% of the pages being popular on StumbleUpon are funny or worthless pictures. Take your camera and shoot a picture. If you don’t have one, then search on flickr and get a good one. Be sure to credit the photographer for that! (pic credits: demonbaby.com)

posting funny images on blog

Tell them the story they already know!

When there’s news, a lot of bloggers will be posting the story on their blogs. This is way of viral promotion and the way your readers will be benefited. The story doesn’t remains new but still people tend to promote the same story from different sites. This is nice way to get some juicy traffic from influenced audience.

By the way, did you know that facebook has aqcuired friendfeed for $50 million?

The FriendFeed team is extremely excited to become a part of the talented Facebook team. We’ve always been great admirers of Facebook, and our companies share a common vision. Now we have the opportunity to bring many of the innovations we’ve developed at FriendFeed to Facebook’s 250 million users around the world and to work alongside Facebook’s passionate engineers to create even more ways for you to easily share with your friends online. ~ff blog

Share a list of posts from the web!

This just works every time! You search the web for a topic and collect some very good resources. Then you list all of those links on a post and there you have your big list post. Not only your readers will love the collection, they will come to that page again and again to get to those articles.

Write a tutorial post

Figure out how you have connected the coffee machine to your power socket and write it on your blog! Here you have a great new tutorial: “How to connect your coffee machine.” Tutorial could be on anything and these are the most searched things on the web. Tutorials help the person looking for a solution and it will bring a lot of incoming links. Share it even if it’s a child’s play 🙂

Post a video

People just loves to see videos and even more if it’s funny or helpful. You can share a video from YouTube. The creator won’t be mad at you because you are promoting it.. just stay out of videos which are not there for sharing.

Show them your earnings

People are just crazzy about checking out what others are earning online. I found blogs with having only pay checks and nothing else! Just show your online earnings.

Tell them what you had in lunch

Yes, this culture is inspired by johnChow. When you have nothing to say, just show them what you had in lunch today!

How to Promote Your Blog With Social Media

Writing great quality content is just 20% of building a high profile blog. Now promotion is the thing where most people fail to get the attention from the readers. It’s harder and sometimes easy to promote your post with free tools such as twitter, facebook and others. Blogs are made up with social media influence and here paid advertisements won’t come in handy!

Social media blue print - Promote your next blog post effectively

If you are an active social media user such a good twitterer or a facebook addict, then start promoting your post there. Invite your friends to read and share your post. Right after publishing your post, announce it on your twitter profile. [Continue reading…]

10 Idiotically Stupid Reasons to Use BING

bing-is-stupid (1)

Bing, bing, bingo.. now days everyone is talking about this new search engine. I noticed this search tool when I saw a number of people are coming to my blog through bing. It’s a search engine from MSN and now yahoo have joined the bing team to bang google with it.

Over the last few weeks I have read a lot of reviews from experts to newbie bloggers about the features and seo benefits. Now here my stupid reasons why you should use BING,

  1. You can type B I N G much faster than typing G O O G L E.
  2. Bing has a new homepage design every day.
  3. It shows much more relevant results comparing to others.
  4. Bing shows less ads when you search (until now!)
  5. Bing has a feature to check the overview of the site before clicking that site.
  6. Google and Bing are almost the same but you feel like it’s even better.
  7. Bing is much more SEO friendly than google.
  8. Bing shows related terms and related sites when you search.
  9. Bing has much more things to offer as a new search engine.
  10. You want google not to be the search king anymore!

Okay jokes apart! BING is actually better in many cases comparing to google. Take a look at my comparison of Bing vs Google and the Bing-it-on challenge.

Extended guide from blogging to pro blogging

Blog is “web log” and now we can say that a blog is the most valuable social marketing asset anyone could have. With a blog, someone named Tamal got contacts from around the world and made a living with it. Now the question appears again and again; what is blogging, what is pro blogging and how can anyone get a “Pro” status in blogging? How much I can earn with a blog and what should be done to become a pro in blogging?

Extended guide from blogging to pro blogging
The answer is not perfect because Pro blogging doesn’t have a definition. Blogging was a hobby from the very beginning; people used to blog to share their thoughts and make friends. Within the past few years, companies and individuals got serious about the word “Blog” and world class bloggers such as Darren Rowse created a new meaning of professional blogging. This is why the biggest paid content marketplace called IZEA was built upon the blog world.

I found two versions of the definition of pro blogging,

Definition #1

A pro blogger is an expert in his field. They create original and quality content to feed the internet. They get paid for their services. Example: Darren Rowse (ProBlogger.net)

Definition #2

A pro blogger is an experience professional. They share their professional experience with the world through blogging. They extend their work network with the blog. Example Robert Scoble (Scobleizer.com)

So either way, pro blogging is not one thing. It’s the combination of Professionalism and Blogging. Let’s take a look at the role of newbie bloggers,

Hobby blogging

Hobby blogging is the easiest thing ever on the internet. For an example, you don’t know that anyone could make money with a blog and you never heard of it. You don’t need to build your skills on the internet and don’t want to create a stronger web asset. This is when you start a hobby blog to connect with friends and make new contacts.

Blogging and Social networking

Blogs and social media are inter-connected. Your social profile such as facebook, twitter, StumbleUpon is your personal publication. Some people are so much addicted in social media and blogging, they don’t just create content, they also spread it with social media; like watching clips on YouTube or listening to a new song on Last.fm ~they always want to share with the world.

Platform blogging

This is a simple form of web logging called platform blogging. Here you just have to sign up for an account and then start publishing. Most people feel lonely with a blog because in the beginning no one visits your blog and you have no comments on it. It feels like you’re talking on an empty room. Platform blogs such as SomeWhereInBlog, Prothom-aloblog got their own user base and you get the exposure for your content.

Pro blogging

Here some techy people come to draw the line to make everyone in different categories. Pro blogging is something different than regular blogging. Where bloggers don’t know who comes to visit their sites, pro bloggers analyze their stats in microscopic depths. Pro bloggers care about SEO and how to optimize their sites. We pro bloggers improve the quality of updates and do social networking for content promotion.

We own our websites from the root including domain, hosting and even copyrights to make sure we could be able to sell it in the future. We take payment from our respected advertisers to promote their products.

When to go in “Pro” status?

Some people make a lot of money with their blogs and most of them don’t make any. If you’re new at blogging, then you should not go on “Pro” status in blogging. Some of our well known bloggers depend on their blog earnings but that doesn’t make sense to completely depend on your blog from day one.

You should not spend any money into domain or hosting because there are free alternatives to start a blog. Also you should not spend any money on link building and advertising. It takes a lot of time to develop a blog’s traffic, rank, content and income. When you think you’re ready for hardcore blogging and making a decent income, then you can start depending on it.

Have your say

What is Pro Blogging in your point of view? Are you blogging to earn money or to have fun? How long you’re been blogging?

How to get indexed in google within 48 hours

Most of the time people ask me they’ve created a new blog/site and it’s been months but google didn’t index it. I usually ask them to be patient and wait for google to index the site manually. But what if you’ve created a site for a cause or some limited event that you don’t want to miss a single visitor from google?

How to get indexed in google within 48 hours Blogkori
For an example, your company is going on a trade expo and has created a special website about that. Usually people don’t remember domain names and they prefer to google that and to see what google is saying about that website. For new bloggers, it’s a great thing to appear on google search results and most people give much more value to a site that’s listed on goog.

When I created DhakaSALE and shared with a business contact; he googled the site and no results were found. The expression was like “If it’s not on google, then it’s not worth sharing.” -the site took nearly 2 months to appear on google search but now I’m able to get a new site indexed in google within 2 days ~that’s 48 hours. Here are some steps to do that,

Content

Just after you registered your domain and created a site, it won’t call any search bots until there’s any content. You have to create some content or at least the first page. The site also has to be crawler friendly and you must use valid codes for your site HTML. You can validate your website HTML with W3C.

Meta data

Create Meta data for your home page. Write a good relevant title description and 10 good keywords. A good way to do that is to brainstorm the concept of your site. First determine what’s your site about? For an example, your blog is about “Cheap graphics cards.” Now try to write down 10 most important topics you’re about to cover. These 10 topics are the blog category and 10 keywords.

Now point out which 3-4 topics you’ll write most on your new blog. Those will be added on the description. Write a description within 150 characters that covers 3-4 of your important keywords. Finally take top 2 keywords to be added as the title. Example,

Title: Make money online with a better blog | BlogKori
Description: A blog about professional blogging, make money online and creating a better blog. The specialties are in social networking and web design
Keywords: make money online, better blog, blogspot tutorials, blog optimization, social traffic, readership

If you’re using wordpress then use the All in one SEO pack plugin to do the meta thing. If you’re using blogger or any other platform, then read this guide about meta.

Invite the crawlers

Now everything’s set on your side, it’s time to invite those crawlers. Submit your site on major search engines such as google, yahoo and msn. Sign up for webmaster tools and submit your sitemap. You can create a sitemap with wordpress with google XML sitemaps plugins; blogger sitemap is located here: yourblog.blogspot.com/atom.xml; go to this site to create a sitemap for your regular website.

Now submit your website on directories and bookmark your site on couple of social bookmarking sites. Now each time you submit your site on directories, a human visitor will come to your site to check the site. When you’ll add your site on bookmarking sites, automated robots will visit your site. These are the indications to major search engines that this site is worth adding to the index.

Human influence

You can ask your friends to visit the site and link to it. Ask them to comment, take poll and bookmark it. Create squidoo and hubpages about your site and promote that page with social bookmarking sites.

Now days, human influence is taken much more seriously by search engines to determine the popularity of a site. Human interaction can index a new site even within hours after launch. Create post about the new site from your other sites and link to it.

It’s not guaranteed!

Yes it worked for me and couple of my new domains but it’s not guaranteed. Google sets the rule of the internet and it’s up to them if your site will appear on search results or not?

Killer guide to get regular backlinks to your blog

As we all know, links are the main currency of the internet. The more backlinks you have, the higher you’ll get ranked. The more sites linking your blog means you’re getting more traffic over time and better page rank.

On this article I’m going to tell you about building even more backlinks to your blog. Links that point to your blog homepage using directories; and the way to build links for internal pages using social bookmarking.

Directory submissions

I think you all know about directories and what they do? Directories are the part of web 1.0, the time when people used to find sites using directories. There are lots of directories on the internet and the more you submit the more traffic you’ll get. Submitting on directories will give you 1 backlink to your site each, so this is a cool way to get more links.

Start by using this cool list called AddUrl.nu. This guy has made a list of almost 1000 SEO friendly directories. Look at the current stat, 989 directories. If you can able to submit your link to all of them that means you’re getting 989 new backlinks to your homepage!

Killer guide to get regular backlinks to your blog

Killer guide to get regular backlinks to your blog
To start submitting, create a notepad file and add your blog URL, title, description and keywords in it ~you’ll need this info on every submission!

Killer guide to get regular backlinks to your blog

Now start the directories one by one and submit your blog.

Faster submission

I know copying the texts may bore you within minutes. Here’s a great tip for firefox users. Go to firefox tools > options > privacy tab and select, ‘Remember what I enter in forms and the search bar’

Killer guide to get regular backlinks to your blog

Now after a few submissions, firefox will know what to enter in the form. Just press on the down arrow for each field and you’ll have the data (no need to copy-paste again and agian!)

Reciprocal links?

When you submit your links on the directories, there are few options like a paid listing for $5; free links; free links with reciprocal. A reciprocal means you have to link to their directory to get a link from them.

Now if you link to that directory, they’ll put much more interest in your site and they’ll add your blog into the directory faster. Sometimes you have to give a link before you can get one. It’s not a bad thing to link to those directories.

You can create a new blog page or post with the directory links (the page where you’re putting the reciprocal links) If you’re linking a lot, you can create different pages for this job. My tip is to keep 30-40 links on each page to be on the safe zone.

Social bookmarking

Social bookmarking can help you a lot to get better search rankings and traffic. You can submit your articles to different bookmarking sites that will increase the links of internal pages. This method is old and it requires a lot of effort to submit your post to each of them one by one.

Faster bookmarking

When there’s a will, there’s a way! You want to submit your site to bookarking sites and you want to make it faster; here’s the solution. Go to this site called SocialPoster. This site will help you submit your post on 79(till now) social bookmarking sites.

WAIT! This is not an automated submission service! SocialPoster will help you to submit your post hassle free. Just fill out the form with your blog post URL, title, description and keywords,

Killer guide to get regular backlinks to your blog
Now select ‘Frame submit’ and choose the type of sites. I choose the dofollow option. That means I’ll be submitting the post to sites that share the search rank. Click ‘Start posting’

After you click on ‘Start posting’ ~you’ll be then taken to the sites one by one to submit your article. The site will be inside of the special social poster iFrame (like a toolbar on top) You must have an account on that site to post your link. Here’s the shortcuts that allows you to register, login or post on that page.

Killer guide to get regular backlinks to your blog
After you done the registration and login thing, you can ‘post’ your article and see the magic! The title, URL, Description and other details are filled automatically. You just have to click on the ‘Submit’ button and you’re done! After you’ve submitted your site, click on ‘Next’ to post your article on the next site.

Killer guide to get regular backlinks to your blog

Tell me what do you feel?

Are you trying to build backlinks to your blog? Do you think the methods I shared today will increase your link popularity? Please do promote this page or my blog with the way you love!

Some special notes

Submitting your site to directories won’t give you a backlink instantly. It could take few weeks or month to get listed. To avoid a brain stroke, try to start with small by submitting on 10-20 directories a day.

Social bookmarks are fast and they’ll pass very low SEO values but more hot traffic. It’s better to ask your friends to add your post on social sites.

How to Find Ideas for Your Next Posts

Lately, a lot of my friends are asking me on how to get new blog post ideas? Now I can’t explain this on one single email or a tweet, so I decided to dedicate a new post about it.

How to find extremely hot ideas for your next posts? blogkori

1st approach

Take a heavy tool (a hammer would be nice) and then HIT your head with it. All of your frustrations will be gone and there will be new post ideas. -Nah! I’m just kidding.

Instead of forcing your brain for new and innovative blog ideas, let’s see how you can bring new ideas naturally,

You’re not feeling creative

The reason why you’re not finding anything to write is because you’re not feeling creative. A person can’t blog everytime and it depends on your mood. Take some rest and do something else; play video games, outdoor activities, visit a friend and watch TV.

You have a blog phobia!

You have worked hard on your blog and have built a commitment that you’ll post regularly. Sometimes this commitment builds a pressure in you to update regularly. In most cases, bloggers create low quality posts in the sack of updating the blog. Don’t worry for your readers, they’re not going away. I’ve stopped updating my last blog for a long time but still there are people who are reading this blog.

New post ideas

Ideas are in your head and you can write when there’s a blog title. So let’s see some of the useful ways that worked for me to generate new post ideas,

1. Read other blogs

Subscribe to some blogs and read them regularly. You’ll definitely find some new ideas to blog about.

2. Write some headlines

Instead of writing posts, write some headlines for the next week or month. Create a notepad and write those headlines in it. Start writing when you feel creative.

3. Search keywords

Take a look at your google analytics data or any other stats tool and take a look at the keywords. See what keywords visitors are using to find your blog. You can use those keywords to create a brand new post.

4. Ask your readers

You can ask your readers what to write next? You can also take questions from twitter, email and any other way you can. Adding a poll can also help you know what others are expecting, “What else you want to read from my blog?

5. Post with your posts

You can create a post with your older post links mentioned on it. I have wrote many posts that are a collection of links. You can also create a second part of a popular post from your blog.

6. Guest posts

Ask your blogger friends to write a guest post on your blog. Sometimes it’ll help you a lot to lose some pressure.

7. Other Media to Get New Ideas

Read books, watch TV shows, radio or even billboards to find brand new ideas for your blog. You can use stumble upon to discover new blog posts and can also read BBC or CNN updates.

Top 5 Reasons Why Your Business Needs a Blog

business needs a blogThis is web 2.0 and today everything has changed. To get more leads, you have to try out new and innovative marketing methods. To get the most ROI, you have to learn new things and do what everyone’s talking about.

This is not like the old times where online business was done with a static corporate website; today’s online venture should be social and you have to do it the right way. By adding a blog on your website (like your-business.com/blog) you can convert more traffic into leads. Here are some reasons why your business needs a blog,

1. Two Way Social Connection

Today’s online business is done socially and traditional banners, ads and other ways of promotions are less effective. Your blog is the biggest social influencer and it’ll help your readers turn into valuable leads. Blog is a form of two way connection; that means they can comment on your blog posts and you can reply to them. This makes them come to your site often and to trust your brand.

2. Free Information for Your Customers

If you provide a blog with relevant informative posts, your visitors will transform into readers -because they don’t have to pay for it. This will help you to keep them connected and build your list through news letters and email subscriptions. Your readers can be transformed into valuable customers with your blog.

3. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Value

Are you paying a lot of money into SEO and to bring your name in the top search pages? It’s hard because more and more companies are coming into SEO. Your main site may have 5-10 pages, so it’s even harder to get into the top position. Blogging creates new pages every time you post a new article. Most of the time a blog article out ranks the entire site. This makes you get more SEO juice to your site.

4. Viral and Free Promotion

In today’s marketing, social promotion works better than advertisement. Because social media is free and the users are influenced, they promote what they love! This means you can bring a lot of traffic to your site with viral promotion by writing great quality blog articles.

5. Learn How to Do it Yourself

New business owners spend a lot of money for advertisement, SEO and social promotion. What they get is very low return for their money. But if you learn how to market your business your own, you can spend that money to develop your business. Blogging is a great social tool and it helped me to learn new ways of lead capture, SEO and social traffic; the same way you will learn too.
